Chelsea sacks Lampard!

Chelsea have fired manager Frank Lampard, reports the BBC. The former Blues player has held the job for the past 18 months, but has never convinced owner Roman Abramovich that he is suitable for the job. Lampard’s last game for Chelsea was yesterday against second division Luton for the FA Cup.

Londoners won 3-1, but again disappointed with their performance. Frank replaced Italian Maurizio Sarri in the summer of 2019. He managed to lead the team to fourth place in the Premier League and to a lost final for the FA Cup from Arsenal.

In the last eight games, the Blues recorded 5 losses and dropped out of the battle for the title of England. Owner Roman Abramovich said Lampard’s status as an “important icon” of the club remained, despite his dismissal. “It was a very difficult decision for the club, not only because I have an excellent relationship with Frank. I have great respect for him. He is a very respectable man and has a high work ethic. However, under the circumstances, we believe that the best thing for the club is to change the manager, “said Roman Abramovich.

In the summer, the transfer ban fell and Abramovich’s purse was untied. Lampard spent exactly 222 million pounds on new additions, attracting a bunch of stars. However, even with them, the legend failed to make the team look in the right way and despite the good start of the current season, the team is currently in 9th place in the standings and is in extremely poor shape.

In a club like Chelsea, where patience is a mirage, such mistakes are unthinkable and quite logically cost Lampard the coaching job. Thomas Tuchel is expected to succeed him.
