Chelsea opens the season with a win at Everton

Lady Luck was for from being nice to Chelsea when the draw for the start of the 2022-2023 EPL season commenced. A tough first few matches are int he cards for the Blues, but as they say, the winners make their own luck. Chelsea FC proved that they are ready to make another run for the title this season, after they traveled away from home to face off Everton in the season opener last Saturday. And while the Toffees were a strong opponent, Chelsea managed to secure the victory and start the season with 3 points in the pocket.

Everyone was excited to see Sterling’s debut, and while the striker failed to net in his first game for Chelsea, he was a constant threat at Goodison Park. Amazing runs, often not spotted by the midfield, full power and constant press, Raheem Sterling proved that he will be a great addition to the starting eleven this season. If you are a Chelsea fan, the addition of Sterling to the team should’ve left you with nothing but jubilation.

The lone goal for the Blues came late into the first half stoppage time, when Doucoure’s tackle on Chilwell resulted in a penalty given. Jorginho was behind the ball facing Pickford, but the Brazilian midfielder remained cool and composed, netting the lone goal for Chelsea. But this was more than enough on Saturday for the Blues to start the season with a victory. The confidence derived from the performance against Everton hopefully will translate to another three points this weekend, when Chelsea FC welcomes another though opponent – Tottenham. The Spurs confidently won their opener against Southampton, beating the Saints 4-1 at home.
