A breath of fresh air for Lampard after win against Fulham

Chelsea had a difficult visit of Fulham, but manged to clutch the win with 1-0 in a game of the 19th round of the Premier League. The victory in the West London derby was only the second for the Blues in seven games. They lost four times during that period.

In the first half on Craven Cottage the hosts got the best chance to find the net. However, Ivan Cavaleiro failed to overcome Mendy from a favorable position. At the end of the first half came the key moment in the match – Anthony Robinson was sent off with a direct red for dangerous tackle into the legs of Cesar Azpilicueta.

After the break, the guests increased the pressure and after a few good combinations their efforts were rewarded. Mason Mount overcame Areola for 1-0 in the 78th minute. This was goal number 800 for the Blues in visits in the Premier League. Before he scored, Mount hit the crossbar.

A total of 10 players of the guests made shots without scoring. Fulham had one chance to equalize – after a misunderstanding between Azpilicueta and Mandy, but did not score. Substitute Timo Werner could have decided everything with a second goal for Chelsea, but missed alone against the goalkeeper. The German national has not scored a goal in the League since the beginning of November.

Chelsea is seventh in the standings with 29 points, four behind fourth-placed Manchester City. Fulham remain in the relegation zone with 12 points, four from the secure zone.
